    Primary Role

    1. To undertake the support function for customers of the Homelessness Dispersed Property Scheme, which includes; assisting with benefit claims, developing life-skills, advice on using household appliances, maintaining their home and garden, sign-posting to other agencies, organising access to professional help with regard to emotional support.
    2. To provide appropriate professional advice and support on matters of in respect of policy, future strategies, targets and objectives.


    Service Responsibilities

    1. Undertake support services for individuals of the Homelessness Dispersed Property Scheme in housing need.
    2. To provide quality furnishings within the Homelessness Dispersed Property Scheme.
    3. Provide Housing Solutions to enable people to exercise choice and select options that are most suitable to their personal circumstances.
    4. Work with statutory and non-statutory agencies to assess and provide the support needs to all individuals requiring access to accommodation.
    5. Provide advice and support services to combat exclusion, discrimination and disadvantage.



    Individual Responsibilities
    1. Undertake pro-active role with colleagues within the Home Services Team in delivering and achieving against council priorities, objectives and statutory requirements.
    2. Agree Support Plans with customers of the Homelessness Dispersed Property Scheme.
    3. To undertake the Sign- up procedure with tenants of the Homelessness Dispersed Property Scheme.
    4. To undertake regular monthly Inventory checks to ensure standards and cleanliness of the Homelessness Dispersed Property Scheme.
    5. Prepare court cases where breaches of tenancy have occurred in relation to neglect or stolen items of furniture,
    6. Process recharges where breaches of tenancy have occurred in relation to misuse of the furniture.
    7. To ensure continuous service improvement with a particular focus on customer needs, housing options, prevention of homelessness and length of time in temporary accommodation.
    8. To represent the Council as necessary at meetings with statutory, non-statutory and voluntary services.
    9. Develop and implement the service, unit and team business and improvement plans and strategies aligned with the Home Services Service. Be accountable for performance delivery against the plans.
    10. To contribute to the effective management of allocated budget and resource management within the Home Services Team.
    11. Attendance and participation in meetings and working parties within the council or between the council and other statutory, non-statutory and voluntary agencies representing the Council and promoting corporate policy.
    12. Undertake appropriate level of consultation with customers consistent with good practice and the requirements of best value.
    13. To contribute to the development of networks, corporate and partnership working to achieve the Council’s objectives relating to the Furnished Accommodation function.

    General Responsibilities
    1. To be familiar and comply with all relevant Health and Safety, Management of Risk, Operational, Personnel, Data Protection and Financial Regulations, policies and procedures.
    2. To contribute to the identification of risks within personal objectives, using resources effectively and efficiently and safeguarding assets.

    4. To provide support and assistance in the implementation of the Borough Emergency plan and other emergency situations.
    5. To undertake other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time commensurate with the grade of the post.
